Weighted Vest

My Big Guy's New Vest!

I have been shopping around to add more "Sensory Friendly" & fun items to our home that will help out my Big Guy. I found lots of items that I liked and will put on my want and have to get list! I have heard of the Weighted Compression Vest before and my Big Guy has even worn one a few times when he was younger and received in home therapy services. So while shopping at Fun and Function online, I came across a Weighted Compression Vest at a great price! I liked the style of this certain one and I figured he would too! :) So I ordered it and it arrived a few days later!
I was so excited to try it out on him and hope that wearing it for a few times a day would help!
Here Is A Little Bit More Information:
What is Autism?
Autism is a social-communication disorder. A diagnosis of autism is made in a person who has social difficulties, communication difficulties, and displays repetitive behaviours.

What is Sensory Processing Disorder?
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is a condition where people misinterpret all of the incoming sensory information we are bombarded with every day. People with SPD may want to avoid sensory experiences such as loud noises, bright colours and items of a certain texture, or alternatively they may want to seek out these experiences. People with SPD may also have motor skill problems.

How Can a Weighted Vest Help My Child With Autism?
Weighted vests provide deep pressure on the muscles and joints of children who wear them. Deep pressure is beneficial to children with autism and other disorders, as the added weight can help calm them when they are feeling overwhelmed or distressed. The added weight can also help a child to become less distracted, and give them the ability to focus on tasks for longer periods of time.
