When my husband purchased our DSLR camera, he also bought a not-so-stylish bag to tote our gear around. It's boxy, manly, and just SO not me. I started just wrapping my camera in a t-shirt or scarf and just loading it into my purse or diaper bag instead. I wanted a more feminine bag that would not only protect my camera, but would also look fashionable and encourage me to bring our camera more places. In fact, that's how Epiphanie bags all began. Professional photographer Maile Wilson also found herself shoving her camera into a purse wrapped in the nearest fabric she could find., so in 2009 she created Epiphanie, a line of stylish camera bags for women to give them a fashionable flair while protecting their expensive investment.
When I started brainstorming ideas for our holiday gift guide, I didn't need to look much further than my very own Christmas wish list. An Epiphanie bag was at the very top and I was over the moon when they agreed to work with me for a review and giveaway! They graciously let me choose any bag (at no cost to facilitate this review) that my heart desired and I ripped right into the box when it arrived at my door. I was very pleased to see that
Epiphanie bags come with a zippered dust bag to the bag safe and dust free when not in use.
I chose the gorgeous Red Lola bag. This beautiful bag measures 14"L x 8"W x 12"H and weighs in at 2.5 pounds. It's crafted from high-quality synthetic leather, that's also water-resistant, and features nickel stud hardware accents. On each side of the exterior is a slip pocket that has great detailed pleating. These pockets are a great size and perfect for housing your cell phone or other items that you need to keep handy. There are two shoulder straps that feature a 9.5" drop length. You can see in the photo below that there is an included detachable, padded cross-body strap (featuring a 51" maximum length).
The Lola features a super cute removable decorative camera charm that bears the Epiphanie logo on the back. It's perfectly "blingy". There is a zipper closure to keep the contents of your bag safe and sound. The double zippers also bear the Epiphanie logo.
The interior of the Lola bag has a neutral, ultra-soft beige lining. I love the light color. It's perfect for being able to see the contents of your bag. There are six Velcro panels (two long and four short) that can be adjusted to pretty much any position so you can customize the storage for your needs. These panels are extra padded for maximum protection. There is also one zippered pocket for keeping your smaller items safe.
You can see in the photo above that I was easily able to fit my camera body (although you could definitely keep your lens attached since you can customize the spacing), two lenses, my external hard drive, and various camera cords and chargers. In the interior pocket I have my wallet, keys, and extra SD cards. In the outside pocket is my cell phone and some snacks. When I want to venture out with my camera and baby in tow, I also carry a medium sized wet/dry bag with a few diapers and wipes in my Epiphanie bag. Even with my camera inside, this bag can still pull diaper duty! Since the dividers can easily be removed, this bag can easily transition to a general everyday bag too.
Overall, the Epiphanie Lola bag is all that I hoped it would be and more! It's ultra fashionable and I just adore the red color (it's available in seven other fantastic colors too!). I love that it doesn't look like a boring camera bag and it cradles my camera perfectly. It's roomy enough for my DSLR and other daily essentials, plus I really love the cross-body option. I would definitely recommend an Epiphanie bag to anyone wanting a stylish alternative to a traditional camera bag!
