We're In Cahoots With Santa Calico Critters

*This post has been written by Janessa of the blog Thrifty Nifty Mommy. Janessa received the items mentioned to facilitate this post. All opinions are her own.*

I have gone over a number of gift ideas for young girls in this year's gift guide, but today I will be featuring the TOP item on my daughter's wish list: Calico Critters! Calico Critters is a line of miniature animals with life-like environments where your child can play and interact with them. There are many houses to choose from, along with things like a grocery store, a burger café, ice cream truck, toy shop, and more. You can also purchase many different types of accessories for the houses and critters, from bunk beds, to living room sets, to cars. Let me just say that if you knew my daughter, you would know that these little critters have Maggie written all over them! There is nothing that Maggie loves to do more than play with animal toys she finds around our house, have them interact, and develop relationships. Of course, many of the animals she finds are just random and therefore don't really go together, nor do they have accessories that work with them.

The Calico Critters line is like a dream-come-true toy for Maggie! It is like playing dollhouse, but with many animal families.  Calico Critters sent me the Adventure Treehouse and the Outback Koala Family Set to gift to Maggie on Christmas morning.

Here are details about these 2 items: Adventure Treehouse Details: Calico Critters have tons of fun playing in the Calico Critters Adventure Tree House Playset! Features cabin, slide, sundeck, swing and pulley. The Treehouse set includes tree trunk and grass base, 2 tree branches, tree stem for pulley, 2 railings and 2 ladders. Critters and accessories not included. Treehouse measures 13" x 11.5" x 15". Connect the Lakeside Lodge for even more fun!

Outback Koala Family Set Details: Mother, Sheila owns her own eco-friendly shop. Father, Bruce is the leader of the Cloverleaf Corners Environmental Awareness Society. Sister, Adelaide wants to start her own eco-fashion company when she grows up. Baby Brother, Joey is very attached to his Mother and loves playing outside.

This treehouse looks like so much fun, and what a fitting place for a family of koalas to live! There are so many cute details to this treehouse; I know Maggie will have a blast with it. And, look at that koala family! I have always been the kind of mom who does a lot of babywearing, just like Sheila. I'm really excited that this is portrayed, and Maggie will be able to act it out with the koala family. Not only will we be wrapping these two items to give to Maggie Christmas morning, I'm actually planning to purchase her a few other pieces to go along with her set. I've got my eye on the Calico Critters Gift Set and the Family Camper--hoping I can find them on sale over the holiday season! Calico Critters are toys that I think Maggie will be playing with for years to come and I'm excited to help her start her collection.

Connect: Visit the Calico Critters website to find out more about these adorable little critters. Then, make sure you "like" them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter as well.

Buy It: You can purchase Calico Critters directly from their website, at Amazon.com, or look for them at Toys"R"Us. The Adventure Treehouse is priced at $69.95 and the Outback Koala Family has a price of $22.95.
