Raising awareness with GiveForward

As a parent of a child with special needs, I try my hardest to protect him the best I can, I've thought about the 1st day he gets picked on, made fun of or sadly even bullied by other kids, over & over in my head. As much as I don't want it to ever happen, unfortunately I know it eventually will.

There's a lot of great awareness going around about the ALS Ice Bucket challenge & recently I was informed about a challenge that sadly went wrong, involving a 14 year old Autistic boy & I knew I had to find out more.

In Bay Village, Ohio three teens challenged one of their fellow students, a 14 year old boy with Autism to take the ALS Ice bucket challenge, however instead of using ice water, the teens dumped a bucket off the roof of a house filled with urine, spit & feces onto the teen. No one deserves to be treated like this, it's incredibly sad & heartbreaking that a challenge that is geared to raise awareness could go so disgustingly wrong.

GiveForward started a fundraiser for this boy to show him love, rather than hate & to teach him that he is a hero for knowing what was wrong & being able to come out & talk about what happened. GiveForward is the worlds #1 fundraising site for helping people in need, since 2008 they have helped families raise over 120 million to help cover expenses during hard times or to honor the people they care about.

So I'm asking you to rally together, let's show this 14 year old boy that were all behind him & how awesome he is with the help of GiveForward. The money raised through GiveForward will go directly to his family, but it's not just about financial contribution here, please leave encouraging words of support on his GiveForward page so that he knows he's not alone in his fight.

Sweedie Kids Review and Giveaway

Raising a special needs child comes with some interesting challenges I will say, some are small, some are major. Since my big guy has sensory issues he drools sometimes, especially when he's concentrating, his tongue is out & the drool switch is on. He also likes to have his fingers in his mouth & will occasionally chew on his shirt, when I recently came across Sweedie Kids, I knew their products would be perfect for Big Brother C!

BrylaneHome® 4-In-1 Maker Review and Giveaway

When it comes to breakfast, it's usually the fastest meal of the day in our home. During the week I just don't have time to create a full breakfast spread, it typically consists of milk or orange juice with frozen waffles, oatmeal or cereal for the kids. As much as I would like to spend more time on breakfast, our weekday morning's just don't allow it.

As a huge fan of BrylaneHome & their amazing home products, I knew we needed to add a variety into our routine, so the 4-In-1 Maker arrived at our home & its the perfect small appliance for our kitchen!

The versatile 4-in-1 maker does it all, pancakes, omlettes, even quesadillas! I love the flawless food release & the baking plates are so easy to clean up!

This BrylaneHome kitchen appliance features a non-stick coated baking plate, thermostatically-controlled lamp, a cool-touch housing & handle & has really made preparing breakfast a breeze!

We had my son's first baseball game Saturday morning, so we had to get up & head out the door. Little Sister C happen to ask for pancakes, she was so excited when I pulled out the 4-In-1 Maker & in less than 10 minutes, I had a plate full of pancakes that were the perfect size for her & Big Brother C!

You do close the lid while your food is cooking & it has two lights on the surface, one is for power, the other indicates when your food is ready!

I just wanted to take a before & after picture, it literally takes less than 2 minutes for the pancake batter to turn into a fluffy, yummy breakfast!

So what do you think?

What recipe would you whip up if you had a BrylaneHome 4-In-1 Maker in your kitchen?

Buy it: The BrylaneHome® 4-In-1 Maker can be purchased online for $59.99 but it's currently on sale for $29.99!

Win it: One lucky reader will win a BrylaneHome® 4-In-1 Maker!

Why I keep my house clean.. "Creating a Routine"

If you haven't had a chance to view post 1 & 2 of this series, I encourage you to start here!

Sometimes when creating a cleaning routine for your family & home, it's easier to see what fits into your schedule, again don't overwhelm yourself by thinking that everything has to get done in one day.

So maybe Monday's you focus on dishes, Tuesday is laundry, Wednesday is bathrooms, Thursday is dusting, Friday is floors & weekends are "catch-up" days.

It's nice to always have small daily tasks or chores as well, theses can be things that can be done first thing in the morning to get them out of the way, like take out the trash, rotate a load of laundry, etc.

Since it's just me & the kidos here, I can wait & clean the bathrooms only once a week & the dishwasher doesn't have to be ran everyday. However, laundry is never ending it seems, to stay caught up, I usually do a load a day.

Once a week everyone's bedding in our house gets washed, pillow cases, comforters, sheets, etc. Now if someone has an accident or if their blankets or sheets are obliviously dirtier than usual, I will throw them in the wash.

When I first started cleaning I would make a daily list of what I knew needed to be done that day, you can use a notebook, your calendar, etc. After a few weeks of making a list I just got into the routine of what needed to be done around the house & I knew what days to do those chores.

How do you stay in a cleaning routine at home, what works for you? Do you get the kids involved? Any other tips you'd like to add?

I love having nice, clean nails, I work with my hands everyday so getting a manicure is just not in my cards! Now, I'm not saying that I will never get my nails done again but I'm excitedly joining the Jamberry Nails craze & jumping on board!

Carrie has been very helpful, informative & so kindly provided me a mini heater, an application kit along with a Candy Corn & Let it Snow wraps!

Following the application instructions was a breeze, the kit contained everything I needed & I had both hands completed in under 30 minutes. Don't they look great?  I'm in love with them, I haven't done my toes yet & I'm not sure I will since flip flop season is pretty much over with, bummer!

Juniorbeads by Chewbeads Review and Giveaway

My Big Guy has several sensory issues, for many years he's struggled with minor drooling & chewing, it seemed like he was always chewing on his shirt collar & in the winter would chew on his shirt sleeves. It used to drive me crazy, however he did so great this past summer & didn't chew on his shirt at all, then bam, when he returned to school in August, he started chewing on his shirt again, I knew we had to try something else!

Nutrisystem #NSNation Week 12

156.6, that's what the scale read this week, 156.6 pounds, I'm so proud of myself & how far I've come! The food I prepare for my family has changed, we created an exercise routine & I'm wearing clothes in my closet that haven't been touched in a few years!

Now that summer has ended, the temperature is changing & it's getting darker earlier, I'm going to have to adjust my work out routine or get a gym membership, I've been going back & forth between the two!

I'm also almost finished with my 3 month long Nutrisystem journey, I'm so blessed & thankful for this great opportunity & lifestyle change! It's been great to try out new meals, enjoy the convenience of Nutrisystem & watch my body change over the past weeks!

What helps you in the winter or cooler months when you can't get outside as much to work out?

I appreciate all of your comments, love & support while I'm on my three month Nutrisystem weight loss journey! In-case you missed the initial announcement, you can view it here!

(I am officially an #NSNation blogger, I received a 3 month's supply of Nutrisystem for free. All opinions are my own & no other compensation was received)

Hauck I'coo Grow with Me Set Review and Giveaway

Little Sister C has always had a strong love for her baby dolls, she enjoys playing with them on a daily basis as well as feeding them, rocking them, changing their clothes & so on. I enjoy watching her roll play as a little mommy & I knew the I'coo Grow with Me set from Hauck Toys would be the perfect set for her & her dolls!

When the I'coo set arrived, it contained two products a high chair & a stroller, it needed to be assembled but honestly, both products were set up & ready for use in under 5 minutes, assembly was a breeze!

One of my favorite things about this Grow with Me Set is the color, how adorable is the purple with white polka dots!?

The completely functional stroller features a handy storage basket underneath & has a removable & reversible seat that transforms into a bassinet in just seconds!

There are several different ways for your little ones baby dolls to eat, sleep or just enjoy the view in the I'coo Grow with Me Set!

The high chair's tray is removable & the stand can be used as a bassinet stand while the seat of the high chair can be directly attached to the stroller frame!

This set is the perfect size for little ones & both the bassinet & high chair even have seat belts so your little one's dolls will be safe & sound while out on a stroll or grabbing a bite to eat!

It's super easy to change out the high chair & bassinet, they both have slots to easily connect & disconnect from the stroller or stand! In seconds you could have a baby doll napping in the bassinet on the stand & then quickly transform the bassinet for use with the stroller to head out for some shopping!

My daughter picked out two of her favorite babies & quickly decided that one would take a nap in the bassinet while the other one would pretend to eat breakfast!

Little Sister is completely in love with this set & she can't wait to show it off the next time a friend or family member stops by to visit!
