Celebrating My Best Friend This Mother's Day

When I was a child, I always knew in my heart I wanted to be a mom and have children of my own one day. I became a mother at a very young age, at 19 years old I had my son and from that day on, my life changed forever. With love, support and guidance from my mom, my parenting journey began, and I knew right then and there, I wanted to be the mother to my children that my mom was and still is to me.

My mom is my best friend, she's an amazing woman and I'm so glad that I have her in my life. We didn't always see eye to eye when I was younger and it took me longer than I'd like to admit that I needed her. The older I got, the more of her I saw in myself and I realized how much we had in common. We've been through a lot together and I'm so thankful she's been there for me through it all.

I am her first born child and her only daughter, so I feel like we have a special bond - one that I'm learning to share with my little princess. I'm so blessed to call her my mother and my best friend, she's also a wonderful grandmother to my children, we couldn't imagine our lives with out her. My mom is kind, caring and loving, she's taught me to be a better person, a better mom, she's taught me to fight for my special needs son and to never give up when life gets tough. I know I can call on her day or night for anything, whether it's advice or if I just need a listening ear.

My mom is a fighter, she has survived cancer twice - no matter what comes her way, she handles it. She always has a smile on her face, her strength, love, and laughter is contagious, she's the kind of person you want to hang out with daily and spend hours at a time with. She's my motivation, my inspiration and honestly, my hero.

I remember growing up and enjoying a big bowl of cereal every night before bed, that was my favorite late night snack! I wanted to spread some extra cheer this Mother's Day, so while shopping at my local Walmart this week, I picked up a box of specially marked Cheerios™! I'm super excited to be able to share a box with my mom, I love her so much and I hope she enjoys her very own box of Cheerios™!

It's so easy to buy a box and gift a box with the #GiveABox campaign! Just purchase specially marked Cheerios™ at Walmart, and enter your unique code online, your recipient will receive a coupon for a free box of Cheerios™ to use at a local Walmart! You can gift a box to anyone, all you need is their email address! Whether it's a new mom, or maybe your oldest is going off to college, they will sure to be surprised - everyone loves Cheerios™!

This Mother's Day, my children and I are treating my mom with a delicious breakfast! Since she is a teacher, she enjoys easy breakfast options so I put together the perfect parfait for her! To make this parfait, you will need:
  • 1 cup of Cheerios™
  • 2 cups of vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup of blueberries
  • 1/4 cup of sliced strawberries
I simply layered the ingredients, starting with the yogurt on the bottom and piled it high from there! She may enjoy this for breakfast, but I'm loving it as a late night snack - it brings back so many childhood memories!

What are your Mother's Day plans? Whom would you gift a box of Cheerios™?
