Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark

(Disclosure: I received complimentary water park passes in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.)

There is no better way to beat the Texas heat than by spending the day at the beach or water park and that's exactly what we did over the weekend! Last Thursday we loaded up the kids and the car and drove south to Galveston Island, it was the perfect mini vacation for everyone!

We had a few stops planned out while we were visiting Galveston for the weekend but I had an extra special surprise for everyone planned for Friday! I was so excited to let my children know that we would be spending the day at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark!

This year Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark is celebrating 10 years of water, fun, and family, they offer free parking, free tubes, longer rides, more thrilling slides, free life vests (we had our own on hand just in case), sweet treats and so much more! Located at 2109 Lockheed St, (just minutes from Seawall) Schlitterbahn Galveston is easy to get to from Houston, San Antonio and yes even DFW, Texas!

Upon arrival at Schlitterbahn we were greeted by friendly staff and everyone received a wrist band to get into the water park, before you can walk through the gates, your coolers need to be inspected and then your free to go pick out a spot for your and your family! We located a bench with some shade by the Wave Lagoon, applied sunscreen and then it was off to have some fun in the sun!

The first thing I noticed about this location is there is so much shade, all around the park they offer plenty of shaded areas and that is a must-have in Texas! It doesn't take much to get hot or over heated in the summer and Schlitterbahn Galveston has no problem making sure there guests are staying cool and beating the heat!

My children couldn't wait to dive into the water, we first headed out to the Wave Lagoon - this is the park's largest beach area and honestly it was our favorite spot! My children loved splashing around, it does have waves and gives you direct access to the Kristal River. Did I mention there are life guards stationed all across the park - another must have for safety and peace of mind!

No water park is complete with out a lazy river and Kristal River at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark will have you floating through the entire waterpark and never wanting to leave! The Kristal River will send you through calm waters and currents, it also connects to the Whitewater River and Torrent River! So grab a tube, relax and float through the endless river with friends and family!

While there are plenty of slides and rides for the older kids and adults like the Screaming Serpents, Soaring Eagle Zip Line, Wolfpack, and the new MASSIV Monster Blaster - Schlitterbahn has the little ones covered too! Your children will have a blast in areas like Tiki Tikes, the Wasserfest Kids Area, Treasure Island Kids Pool, Shipwreck Harbor and more! There is so much to do for every single member of your family at Schlitterbahn!

The Tiki Tikes is the perfect area for young children, it's located between the Surf Grill and Kristal Bay and features two kid-sized slides, water sprays, the cutest frog slide, and a waterdrop shower. I can't even count how many times my children went down these slides, they loved the Tiki Tikes area so much!

When it's time to settle down for lunch or a sweet snack, Schlitterbahn Galveston Island offers a variety of delicious foods! You'll find pizza, bbq, ice cream, funnel cakes and more, we brought in our own picnic lunches (like most water parks no alcohol or glass is allowed) but we had to try out some of the ice cream! My children enjoyed Dippin Dots® while I enjoyed my favorite cookies n cream ice cream in a delicious waffle bowl!

We can not wait until next summer, we are already planning out our vacation for summer 2017 and have included a day to spend at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark! Maybe next year we will rent a cabana as well, our family had an absolute blast at Schlitterbahn and I highly encourage you to visit asap!

Be sure to stay connected with Schlitterbahn on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram! Have a Schlitteriffic day!
